The basic Cordura vest package is $179.00 plus $10 shipping includes two 32 oz plastic bottles to fit vest holsters, and your choice of shoulder harness styles. An optional 54 oz plastic bottle fitting the new gamebag accessory pocket is available in Accessories and takes water capacity to nearly 120 oz.   The vests aren’t designed to be adaptable with common water bladder sizes, but some of the shorter 50 oz bladders will fit in the rear 9 x 9 inch gamebag accessory pocket if necessary.

The Cordura vests’ outer shell are made entirely of the stiffer Mil-Spec 1000 denier Khaki nylon, and lined with 420 denier nylon pack cloth.  The game bag is lined against the body with Aqualon water/bloodproof material to protect the hunter’s shirt.  These are the heavier vests we used to sell mostly to outfitters and trainers.  There is an option for either the usual 2″ cam style buckle or a 2″ dual adjust side-release buckle on the main vest belt.  An option also for  transmitter holders on the front sides of the shell pockets, which helps open up the chest strap area for other carry alternatives.

The Vest Fit and Adjust page covers fitting and ordering details, and Hunt Tech goes over a few things we’ve done to personalize our vests. If you still have questions, please contact us.   We have an industrial machine and can make some adjustments and alterations when necessary.   We will pursue each transaction with the goal of your satisfaction.

WingWorks Vests Khaki/Blaze

The Khaki/Blaze have outsold the Khaki vests so far, 5 to one. Some states and hunters may require more orange on their vests, but this will satisfy most with about 160 square inches. Lots of these have gone east to grouse and woodcock hunters, but out west they still out-sell the Khaki. If it’s not a blanket requirement in your state, Orange is required and sensible when bird hunting in certain game units during big game seasons, and often on state and federal refuges. Tenmile Cloth Hunter Orange is surprisingly durable and stain resistant for a relatively light fabric, and it holds its color.

WingWorks Vests Khaki

In a world of limited access, shrinking hunting opportunities, it’s sometimes necessary to leave the world of camo and hunter orange behind and fly under the radar. Khaki is about as neutral in the field as a solid color gets, and may even get one into a rough or wood pigeon shoot in the English countryside. Khaki definitely works well for any kind of pass shooting, turkey hunting, open country upland hunting and any sort of clays shooting.

Some hunters have opted for the khaki vest with a blaze harness, then adding a tan harness  for situations where blaze is unnecessary or unwanted, such as dove and duck hunting.

In between sizes?  Please check before ordering!

If you’re in-between sizes, or just want a more precise check on how a vest size will fit, this measurment will tell us where the shell pockets will lay out on both sides of the body. Shell pockets should lay out about where six gun holsters would, roughly under the shoulders on each side. Too far forward, and the hunter will walk into them, too far back makes for awkward reaching for shells. Our foam waist belt usually rides about centered at navel level, with fixed shell pockets for each size located towards each end of the belt.

Wearing your most typical hunting clothes, stretch a tape around the small of your back at navel level, and place one end roughly under the left shoulder line, the other roughly under the right shoulder line, you will get a center to center measurement for locating the shell pockets.  This will give a number to establish shell pocket center placement on each side to compare with the four sizes we offer.  The center to center shell pocket base measurements in each size are M/18.25″, L/20.5″, XL/26″, and XXL/30.5″.  The shell pockets are 5″ wide. The optimum pocket center is under the shoulder line or slightly forward.  If the back measurement is right, go with it, and don’t worry about a belly.  The 2″ belts in front are plenty long to accomodate.  We ask that you include weight, height and waist at navel also to help us get you the right vest.
