We have tried out many suspenders over the years, and these are the best built, detailed and most durable.  They are built by an Idaho saddle maker with highest grade leather components.  We recommend they be used with metal “rivet-style” buttons like the Bucksaw Buttons or others.  They are easy to install and replace the sewn-on buttons included on many hunting pants.
If you’ve never used suspenders, here are a few benefits. Hunting pants can be heavy, from Carhartts to Filsons, and they are more versatile over the season if sized a bit larger than normal for long underwear and heavy socks and boots.  Without suspenders, they often require regular adjustment.  Comfort is another issue.  The body moves easier within a looser un-belted pant with less body restriction to surprise shots at game.  Never needing to adjust a belt or tuck in a shirt  is another benefit.
The western standard is the traditional V back design in Black or Sage 1 1/2″ elastic webbing with button down connections.   Measuring for fitting is important since there is a limited adjustment range of 4.5  inches on the two front buckles.
Suspender Sizing
1)  Pull your britches up!
2)  Measure from the top of your right front belt loop over the shoulder to the top of your back center belt loop.
3)  Consider any unusual personal variables and the stretch of the elastic.
4)  Check your measurement on the selections below and order your suspenders.
Note:  Measuring is the most reliable, but if you can’t then order by height.  Under 5’9″/ Small, 5’9″ to 5’11″/Medium, 5’10″ to 6’3″/Large, 6’2″ to 6’6″/XLarge.  Weight should be factored into these numbers as well.

Made in USA for military use, these tough gaiters have a few added features over OR’s standard Expedition Croc’s. They come with an extra field replaceable inset strap, and have larger circumference per size for stiffer pants and pac boots, and are now offered in a hunter friendly Coyote Tan. Great in snow and wet conditions, and for saving the most vulnerable parts of your favorite hunting pants and boots. Use them on wet mornings, then store them in a vest cargo pocket when things dry out. Versatile and lightweight but tough, the best practical hunting gaiter we’ve used. Gaiter’s by OR (Outdoor Research) have been among the best in mountaineering for years, and are just now being offered in a hunter compatable color, and to the hunting community. Lighter and more comfortable than chaps for long walks in grassland and sagebrush country, especially in late season.

*Based on men’s large pac-boots used in the military. For a normal hunter with Schnees’ Hunters, Danners or medium mountaineering boots, generally go down a size from what’s listed above. If you wear light pants and boots, even 2 sizes. I’m 5’10, 185 with big calves, and can wear Mediums with Danners and jeans, moving to Larges with pac boots and HD tin cloth pants. These gaiters stand up on their own pretty well if they’re a bit oversize. XL’s are for only the 250 and over hunters with XL feet.

OR Multi-Cam Gaiters

NEW IN MULTI-CAM CORDURA / GORE-TEX
Same design and features as the Coyote gaiters above, and also made in the USA.  The new military camo pattern is known as “Multi-Cam”, but it is a licensed pattern developed privately.  There are fees involved for printing and using the pattern, and these fees are included in the higher price you see for these gaiters.  These are Mil-Spec gaiters built with Mil-Spec materials, and a great addition to any hunter’s pack to stay dry and comfortable.  We are one of the few outlets offering these to the hunting community.
