If you live, work in or love to roam the West, don’t do it without this great map software on your laptop, or Garmin navigation products from Nuvi’s to the Astro. The Hunt for Garmin “Premium” State Maps are based on the BLM Surface Management Map series with bright opaque public land ownership colors and plat ownership information on private lands.
Also available are 2 regional map groups referred to as Hunt for Garmin “Standard” Southwest and Northwest that don’t include plat ownership info, along with other “Standard” maps for a number of Mid-Western states priced a bit lower.
There are a lot of additional features on these maps beyond the standard BLM maps, and can be somewhat different from state to state based on State and Federal programs. For example, Idaho has current Access Yes! lands visible, a state sponsored recreational private land access program, and also marks big game unit boundaries.
Map updates are available regularly from the HuntingGPSMaps.com website for $20-$30 per year, and most chips can be updated directly from this site. Chips can now be used in your computer’s chip slot in Garmin Basecamp to explore states on a larger screen with travelling tools.
